5.1. Creating a Backwoods game account

Step 3: In the "Display Name" section, you can change your displayed name.

At the Discord and X (Twitter) sections, link your account with these two platforms.

In the Referral section, players can enter the code "HanaLuong" to receive an additional 5% points.

Finally, click "Play" to start the game.

Step 4: Once in the main interface of the game, pay attention to three parts:

At section (1): This is the maximum character energy allocated per day: 20 energy. Each play session consumes 5 energy, meaning you can only play a maximum of 4 times per day.
You can change your character by using the arrow keys to navigate to the desired character, then press the "E" key.
Move to the portal to begin the battle.

5.2. Guide to combat in The Backwoods

Each play session will consist of a maximum of 30 waves with varying difficulty levels. Every day, the map and monsters will change, but the gameplay mechanics remain essentially the same.

Additionally, the project has recently upgraded the game. Currently, there are two different play modes: Normal and Hardcore. Players can choose either mode to start playing. It's recommended to begin with Normal mode to become familiar with the game and then switch to Hardcore mode for higher scores.

When entering the game, players will be randomly assigned a weapon. Your mission is to move using the arrow keys to avoid monsters and the projectiles they shoot. Two important things to note in each game session are:

Health: Each character starts with a set amount of health (100 health points). During combat, you need to avoid losing health from monster attacks and remember to pick up health packs whenever they appear.
Time: Each game session will have varying time limits. As you progress, the time limit tends to increase, giving you more time towards the end of each session.

5.3.1. Basic attributes of the character

The attributes that a character has include:

MAX HP: Maximum health points of the character. There are items that increase Max HP to help characters have more health.
DAMAGE: The amount of damage the character deals.
ARMOR: Reduces incoming damage when the character is hit by monsters.
ATTACK SPEED: The rate at which the character attacks. This affects the attack speed of weapons.
CRIT RATE: Critical hit rate.
RANGE: Attack range of weapons. Melee weapons do not benefit from this feature.
DODGE: Dodge rate, which helps avoid monster attacks.
MOVE SPEED: Movement speed of the character.
ENGINEERING: Only effective for Engineer-type weapons, the weakest weapon type which players can sell for gold when looted from chests, as they do not perform effectively in gameplay.
LUCK: Increases luck, which boosts the chance of finding health packs, loot chests, and Legendary weapons.
KNOCKBACK: Knockback rate, ineffective against large monsters (bosses). If using FireFarm weapons, this rate is already included, allowing players to save gold by not purchasing it separately.

Weapon classification: Common weapons (non-Legendary) have 4 levels, increasing in damage: White, Green, Blue, and Purple. You can merge (combine) two weapons of the same level to upgrade the weapon. For example, combining two Blue weapons will result in a Purple weapon.

6. Scoring mechanics in The Backwoods

Below are the ways to earn points in the game:

6.1.Through combat

When entering battle, you will receive 500 points. Every 5 waves, you will receive an additional 500 points. If you successfully defeat all 30 waves, you will receive an extra 1000 points. These points apply to NFT holders; if playing without NFT, your points will be halved. Playing in Hardcore mode grants additional bonus points.

6.2. Through owning NFTs

7. Tips for playing The Backwoods to conquer the 30 waves

To achieve victory and earn maximum points by surpassing all 30 waves, here are some personal tips that players can consider:

Waves 1 - 10:

During this phase, the waves are relatively easy, and it's a good time to focus on killing monsters to accumulate gold. Gold will be used to purchase weapons; prioritize purchasing White-tier weapons, especially those from the FireFarm category, to build a setup of these weapons.

You don't need to buy too many accessories at this stage. If available, focus on purchasing accessories like Max HP, Speed, and Dodge; other accessories are not necessary yet.

At Wave 9, watch out for monsters that shoot three beams. This can be challenging for those who haven't developed many skills yet. Be cautious to avoid losing health before reaching Wave 10.

Wave 10 introduces the appearance of a Boss. The Boss in this wave is relatively easy to defeat, but you still need to be careful, especially when the Boss charges at your character.

Waves 10 - 20:

As mentioned earlier, prioritize using a complete set of 6 firearms from the FireFarm category. Using all 6 firearms will upgrade the Range of your weapons, enhancing your combat effectiveness.

This is also the stage where I prioritize buying character upgrades, with the priorities being: Crit Rate (critical hit chance), Damage, Attack Speed, HP (health), and Armor.

From Wave 20 to 30

During this phase, players will earn quite a bit of money after each wave. Therefore, if a wave does not offer good items, players can skip them to save money for purchasing higher-tier weapons, particularly aiming for the FireFarm category's Gatling. Holding a Gatling gives you a 70% chance of winning, with the remaining 30% depending on your skills.

One small tip to help you avoid monster attacks is to stay near the corners of the map. When encountering monsters that shoot three beams, it's advisable to run around the corners in a consistent direction, such as clockwise or counterclockwise. This strategy helps you evade the monster's projectiles effectively.
